Introducing the HOTTEST country band on The

Grand Strand....

Randy Atwood and the Renegades

Playing country music in its true form, straight from the heart of Nashville Tn.

Randy Atwood

Randy Atwood is the owner/manager of the Renegades as well as the lead singer and rhythm guitar, he has been playing music since he was 6 years old, he started playing in local restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area at the age of 13. His first "real" job was in the longest running show on the grand strand "High Steppin' Country. From there he went to Nashville, TN to work at OpryLand USA. Then in 1987 he enlisted in the US Coast Guard where he proudly served for 4 years, he has shared the stage with the likes of, Charlie Daniels, Barbra Fairchild and Willie Nelson to name a few. Randy has been entertaining visitors to the Myrtle Beach Area for over 30 years!

Born and bred in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love and a hotbed of R&B, blues and soul music, Terry cut his musical teeth on the old records his older brother listened to.  “I remember being blown away as a young kid by all the old Stax records, and Ray Charles, and Motown, and Chess labels.  I just really loved the groove from these old artists”.  Matter of fact, Terry cites Motown great James Jamison, Carol Kaye, and Stevie Wonder’s bassist Nathan East as his biggest influences, along with bass legends Paul McCartney from ‘that group”, Jack Bruce, Andy Fraser, and Pino Palladino.  Terry toured with the Philly-based Coasters/Drifters/Platters Show in the late ‘70s-early 80’s, playing major venues like Summerfest in Milwaukee.  In 2000 Terry and his family moved to Myrtle Beach where he was instantly exposed to country music. Terry says “I hear everything I love about music in these country songs… blues, R&B, and rock and roll.  As a bass player it’s a perfect fit for me!”

KEVIN PRIEST

Kevin Priest, 27 years old from Fairmont, West Virginia plays lead guitar and bass. and has been playing and singing since he was seven years old. Kevin is an accomplished musician, although he has had no formal training. Kevin's musical background and influences are from all types of music including country, bluegrass, rock and southern rock. He attributes his love for the guitar to artist like Brent Mason, Jimmie Oleander, Vince Gill and the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn! Kevin has played and shared the stage with such artists as, Aron Watson, Jason Michael Carroll, Ronnie Dunn and Trent Tomlinson to name a few. Kevin brings high energy and excitement to the Renegades shows that keep people on their feet and on the dance floor making him a great part of what makes up The Renegades!

Grant King, the youngest of The Renegades, was born in Burlington, NC in the late 90's. 10 years later, he migrated to South Carolina where he taught himself to play guitar. Grant plays rhythm, lead and bass as well as pedal steel. Grant landed his first professional job at the age of 17, and just a few short years later, he landed a full time position as a member of the Bounty Hunters, at the world famous Bowery. Spending 2 years there, he quickly picked up the pedal steel, which is still his favorite instrument to play. Grant brings a youthful vibrancy to the Renegades and greatly contributes to the high energy of the Renegades stage shows. He also loves animals.

GRANT KING

R.J. DORSEY

His name is Robert J Dorsey.  His friends call him RJ, and his little boy calls him daddy, but we like to refer to him as “Thunder on a Throne”!  As ½ of arguably the hottest rhythm section south of Nashville, RJ cites his very own dad as his biggest influence.  RJ says, “My dad was the drummer for Tom T. Hall, and I remember as a kid it was so cool to see him perform.  So I guess you could say drumming runs in the family!  I picked up my first pair of sticks when I was six and never put them down!”  Because RJ’s first true love was Metal, he adds power and finesse to even the most basic of country song that makes the audience sit up and take notice (and usually dance). Before coming on board as a Renegade, RJ performed with several high-profile bands including Midnight Row and Sabin Sharpe, to name a few. Originally from the Buckeye State and calling Florence, SC his home with his wife and young son, RJ says “drumming has and always will be my passion, and behind a kit is where I was meant to be”.  We’d have to agree!
